Pondicherry, 16th December, 2017: India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. today signed a MoU with Swami Vivekananda Rural Community College, a prominent institute situated at Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu to establish a Yamaha Training School in its premises. This initiative is to promote and encourage relatively indigent youngsters to acquire technical knowledge and expertise, thereby supporting them to secure employment at Yamaha dealerships. As a socially responsible company, this initiative is in line with Yamaha’s continued CSR program. Technical experts from Yamaha Technical Academy (YTA) - the company’s training division will provide support in conducting the YTS program by continuously training the trainers as well as the students.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ravinder Singh, Senior Vice President, Strategy and Planning, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd said: “At present, there is a huge skills gap in the industry and a large number of youngsters are pressed towards unemployment due to lack of technical skills. With this MoU, Yamaha will develop synergetic partnership with Swami Vivekananda Rural Community College, Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu, thereby helping deserving students find employment in the automobile sector via impartment of technical training and education. This partnership will provide a platform to relatively indigent youngsters to obtain a job oriented technical training in two wheeler repair and servicing that meets industry standards. Upon successful completion of this YTS course, students will receive a Yamaha Technical Academy (YTA) certificate and a certificate issued by the partner Institute that will help them gain suitable employment within the industry.”
India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. (IYM) recently signed a MoU with Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC) for affiliation of all courses running at Yamaha Training School. Yamaha is the first and only among the two-wheeler companies in India, with ASDC approved training program for “Automotive Service Technician” category under its CSR activity.
As a part of its continued CSR initiative, Yamaha is poised to adopt Government/Private Technical Institutes and will continue to partner with reputed NGOs across India to launch Yamaha Training Schools with Yamaha Technical Academy (YTA) certification.
Till date 43 MoUs are signed across India with 1 institute in each of the states of Assam, Orissa, Rajasthan, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh, 2 institutes in each of the states of Delhi, Punjab, Jharkhand and West Bengal, 3 institutes in each of the states of Gujarat and Karnataka, 4 institutes in each of the states of Kerala and Uttar Pradesh, 6 institutes in Maharashtra and 8 institutes in Tamil Nadu.
